Country Hardwood launches hidden trickle vent system

Premium timber manufacturer Country Hardwood has launched an innovative hidden external trickle vent system for its casement windows and doors, offering trade professionals and specifiers a solution that maintains traditional aesthetics while meeting modern ventilation requirements.

The design eliminates visible external hoods and grilles associated with trickle ventilation, instead concealing the components within the window frame. This development allows architects and developers to specify high-performance timber windows that comply with Part F building regulations without compromising the clean lines and heritage appearance of traditional joinery.

“Timber windows and doors are chosen primarily for their distinctive character and timeless visual appeal, and maintaining period aesthetics is crucial for many projects, particularly in conservation areas or heritage-style buildings,” says Mark Osborne, Managing Director at Country Hardwood. “Our hidden trickle vent system delivers essential ventilation while preserving the classic timber window appearance that homeowners desire.”

The system, developed at Country Hardwood’s Buckinghamshire manufacturing facility, features a recessed internal vent profile that works in harmony with the window design. It is available across the company’s premium hardwood casement window and door range, which is crafted using sustainably-sourced timber including sapele, idigbo and oak.

This innovation builds on Country Hardwood’s reputation for combining traditional craftsmanship with modern engineering. Backed by over a decade of expertise in bespoke joinery, the company utilises state-of-the-art CNC technology alongside time-honoured joinery techniques to produce bespoke timber products for the UK construction market. Larger windows feature the company’s innovative wrap-around locking system, providing improved security.

Osborne adds: “We are always looking for new ways to provide our customers with solutions that meet the needs of even the most demanding projects, and our hidden trickle vent system will ensure that ventilation needn’t come at the expense of aesthetics.”
