Up for the challenge: Vista takes on Tough Mudder North to raise funds for worthy cause

Seven staff members from leading composite door manufacturer Vista Panels, including Managing Director Keith Sadler, will be taking part in the Tough Mudder North this September in order to raise funds for the son of one of the company’s team members afflicted by a rare condition.

In 2021, at the age of 19, Kurtis Haley was diagnosed with gluten ataxia, a rare condition that causes the immune system to attack part of the brain as a response to gluten ingestion.

His gut has been so badly damaged by gluten, anti-bodies have affected the cerebral part of his brain, resulting in symptoms similar to that of a stroke.

Today, Kurtis is unable to walk properly, while his speech and memory have both been badly affected.

As his family rallies to raise funds to help pay for private speech therapy and additional medical help, his wider Vista family have also joined forces to help, with all proceeds from the team’s participation in the Tough Mudder going directly towards Kurtis’ rehabilitation and future care.

“At Vista, we’re proud to be taking part in the upcoming Tough Mudder in order to raise funds for Kurtis and his family, and it’s heartwarming to witness the genuine care and support that our team exemplifies, extending beyond the walls of our workplace,” Keith said.

“Our company’s commitment extends far beyond just manufacturing – we also pride ourselves on providing continued support and compassion, not only to our own dedicated team members, but also to the wider community.

“Participating in the Tough Mudder North will not only be a physical challenge, but will also be a testament to our commitment to stand by our colleagues during times of difficulty, and as we approach the challenge, I welcome any contributions, big or small, which I’m sure will make a significant impact on Kurtis’ journey toward recovery. Together, we can make a tangible difference in his life.”

Tough Mudder North will take place on 10th September at Cholmondeley Castle. To make a donation, visit https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/catherine-haley?utm_id=1&utm_term=4pY3wkDP3
