Peter Maddern Bids a Fond Farewell for Retirement

The Glass & Glazing Federation (GGF) says thank you and farewell to industry veteran, Peter Maddern, on his retirement after a fenestration career spanning 21 years. Peter was instrumental in delivering RISA, the independent and impartial inspections and auditing service, but has been involved in many aspects of the GGF and FENSA over the years.

“Peter has had a distinguished career in the glazing industry,” says Dave Mechem, Director of Inspection & Assessment at RISA. “Having joined the BBA in 2002 as a FENSA inspector, Peter was promoted in 2005 to FENSA Inspection Manager. In this role he helped to increase the number of inspections being completed from 13,000 inspections a year to 18,000 inspections a year and eliminated the need for cold calling. Peter also worked closely with FENSA CEO, Graham Hinett, before Graham’s retirement in 2012.

“In 2008, Peter was promoted to Head of Inspection which included all BBA inspection types, before being promoted again to Head of Contractor and System Certification. In this role his responsibilities included management system certification work, inspection work, UKAS accreditation, and all associated administration support.

“We were pleased to see Peter join the GGF in January 2015, and among the many achievements in his time with us, one the biggest was delivering the RISA project on time and within budget. After a time as Operations Director, Peter then semi-retired and went back into the field to provide management consultancy services and helped the BFRC attain its UKAS accreditation. Peter is now stepping back from the industry to enjoy full retirement and everyone at the GGF and FENSA would like to thank him for all his hard work and wish him all the very best for the future.”
