Biggest attendance ever for Glazing Summit 2021

Four hundred-plus leaders from across the glass and glazing industry descended on Edgbaston Stadium for the Glazing Summit – making it the biggest turnout for the event since its inception in 2018.

It meant a third success for organisers of the biggest one-day conference in the industry, after last year’s pandemic-enforced absence.

The agenda tackled head-on the biggest issues facing the industry, including the supply chain crisis, the regulation minefield, sustainability, mergers and acquisitions, and how installers have fared on the frontline.

Big name panellists from the industry included Leandro Peraro of ASSA ABLOY EMEIA division, Gary Morton, CEO of Central Window Systems, Nathan Barr of ODL Europe, Sam Nuckey of Window Ware, Dean Bradley of Glazpart, John McComb of Reynaers, Mark Gajda of Rehau, Gary Hyem of FRP Corporate Finance, and David Borland of the GGF.

Keynotes included Bloomberg correspondent Greg Perdon on the economic outlook for the industry, international business consultant Geoff Burch on growth through leadership, and the Insight Data ‘State of the Industry’ Report.

Glazing Summit founder, and CEO of Purplex and Insight Data, Andrew Scott reflected: “The event was a sell-out and the industry demonstrated their appetite for live events after almost two years of being unable to come together – there was certainly a lot to discuss!

“Our speakers were fantastic, and it was interesting to hear their views on the biggest issues. I’d like to thank our 25 big-name sponsors and everyone who attended, who helped contribute to the success of the day.”

Around 250 people also attended the Glazing Summit Dinner in the evening, which provided the perfect tonic after a day of discussion and debates with Simon Evans, one of the UK’s most respected and best loved comedians, taking centre stage.

With a clear appetite for its return, organisers announced that the Glazing Summit will be back next year, with further details of the date and venue to be revealed soon.

“The industry needs a platform for industry leaders and CEOs to come together to learn, share ideas, thoughts and opinions,” added Andrew. “We took things up a notch this year and are looking forward to building on this success next year.”
