Staged bi-annually to celebrate the achievements of Master Builders across the UK, The Federation of Master Builder’s Master Builder Awards showcases examples of high-quality craftsmanship, exceptional customer service and building excellence. And as part of its drive to extend the reach of GGF Commercial Group member companies, two of its organisations FENSA and RISA joined ranks to sponsor the Small Renovation Project category, which was won convincingly by Wandsworth-based Orchestrate Design & Build Ltd.
Presentations were made in fourteen categories at a glittering ceremony that took place in front of more than 600 people. The winning project in the category for ‘Residential/domestic restorations, refurbishments or extensions valued at up to £50,000’, was for Orchestrate Design & Build’s renovation work on an apartment in a listed Mansion block opposite the Natural History Museum, in one of the most desirable areas of London. In carrying out what judges described as ‘one of the most desirable interiors one could ever wish for in a stylish flat’ Orchestrate had to contend with a number of severe restrictions. The only access to the site was through a main entrance accessed by all of the building’s residents, which meant Orchestrate faced limited access and shorter working hours to complete the renovation. In addition, the team had to protect, clean and maintain the communal areas daily and, to avoid costly parking expenses, the team also travelled entirely by public transport and bicycles for the duration of the project.
For FENSA Chris Beedel, Director of Membership, said: “FENSA is delighted to be associated with sponsoring this award, which has produced such an exceptional winner. Many congratulations to Orchestrate Design and Build Ltd and all of the finalists for some excellent entries.”
Dave Mechem, Director of Operations for RISA added: “RISA assessors see brilliant work in their roles every day and the end product achieved by all the nominees was second to none. Congratulations to everyone involved. The whole day was a huge success and a further example of the growing relationship between RISA and FMB. We look forward to that continuing into 2020.”
Brian Berry, CEO of the Federation of Master Builders thanked FENSA and RISA for supporting the Awards and added: “Both [organisations] are industry leaders who are driving standards higher year on year and with a will to see excellence as standard. That drive aligns completely with the FMB and its members and the relationship between FENSA, RISA and FMB will be one of great importance moving forward.”
