VEKA Group has been shortlisted for three major accolades in the prestigious Red Rose Awards, hosted by Lancashire Business View.
The industry-leading PVC-U systems supplier is no stranger to the celebrations, having won the coveted ‘Large Business Award’ just last year.
2018 sees VEKA Group shortlisted for: ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’, ‘Employer of the Year’ and the new ‘In-House Training’ award.
Head of HR Gabriela Hammond explains: “We’re very pleased to have been shortlisted for not just one, but three Red Rose Awards. We were proud to have won the award for best Large Business in 2017 and we’re hopeful that our efforts will be rewarded in another category this year.
“The entry process is quite in depth as these awards are hotly contested! We’ll be up against the ‘cream of the crop’ of Lancashire businesses.
“Putting the different award submissions together was a great opportunity to reflect on all the hard work that goes on at VEKA and the diverse ways in which the team have supported the local community recently. Together, we’ve raised more than £40,000 for regional charities in the last three years, and our community work has seen staff members mentoring students from local schools during partnership programmes that have proved to be mutually beneficial.
“When it comes to in-house training, we are very proud of our apprenticeship programme with record numbers of placement opportunities offered this year and we have also been able to put 70 employees through the BIT (Business Improvement Techniques) programme to enable them to gain NVQ qualifications while at work.
“VEKA was named ‘Employer of the Year’ at last year’s Burnley Business Awards, so it would be phenomenal to win in this category at the Red Rose Awards too! We know that the company couldn’t continue to be as successful as it is without the ongoing commitment of our hard-working staff. That’s why we do everything we can to make VEKA a fantastic place to work, with plenty of praise, support, social events, opportunities for career progression and more.
“Whether or not we take home the trophies, we’re very proud to have made the Awards shortlist in three categories and been recognised for the hard work we put in. I, for one, am thoroughly looking forward to visiting Blackpool’s glamorous Winter Gardens for the Awards Ceremony in March.”
